Joy

Joy
John Currie
Bronze 8" x 3-1/2" x 3-1/2"

Her name both describes her feelings as a woman as well as mine in her creation. I love her self-assurance and confidence, the way she boldly ascends the stairs even though they become narrower as they reach higher, even though what awaits her at the top of the stairs is completely unknown. She knows she is beautiful even if her beauty defies our conventions. And not only does she climb, she dances with a light step and with the graceful sweep of her arms. If she knows fear, she lives with it; if she knows hesitation, she steps beyond it; if she anticipates trial, she decides to triumph over it with joy.
